Amit Chaundry was recently convicted in an Alexandria court after pleading guilty to charges of fraud. Over the past five years, he had stolen more than $25 million from over 1,000 victims through passport fraud, phony travel websites, and bogus billing schemes. One of the methods in concocting these themes would be scouring the internet for random mug shots that could pass as ID photos. Unfortunately for Chaundry, he wasn’t up on superhero TV shows. One of the mug shots he used was not so random – it was actually a photo of Laura Vandervoort, who played Supergirl in the Smallville series. It was this misstep that helped investigators catch Chaundry. Once again Supergirl saves the day!
