Let's Get Local

The weekend is on the horizon and we’re excited to take in some of the fun events happening in Hampton Roads. The short respite from the workweek is much needed and some relaxation with family is welcome. Here are five events we’re looking forward to:

Dwight Yoakam: Chrysler Hall, Norfolk, VA; August 16th, 8:00 PM
The country music legend and successful actor will be performing live at the beautiful Chrysler Hall in downtown Norfolk. Ticket prices start at $67. For more information, click here.

Craft Booze Cruise: Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center; August 16th, 7:00 PM
Enjoy a two-hour cruise on the Atlantic Explorer while enjoying the area’s best craft beers. Snacks will be available onboard for purchase. Boarding begins at 6:30 PM. This event is for ages 21 and up. For more information, click here.

Honey Bee Festival: Norfolk Botanical Gardens; August 17th, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
The Beekeepers Guild of Southeast Virginia and the Norfolk Botanical Gardens have teamed up to organize a day of education and fun about one of nature’s most important producers. Attendees will learn how to raise bees, purchase bee-friendly plants, sample local honey and more! For more information, click here.

Movies and More: Deep Creek Park in Chesapeake; August 17th, 6:00 PM
A free showing of The Lego Movie 2 will be offered at Deep Creek Park, along with a DJ playing family-friendly tunes and a chance to win prizes. Enjoy face painting and lawn games as well. Don’t forget to bring your own blankets and chairs. For more information, click here.

Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center Event: Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center; August 17th, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Are you looking to adopt an adorable dog or cat? Visit the Virginia Beach Aquarium for the chance to meet furry friends in need of a happy and loving home. The event lasts from 11 AM to 2 PM and admission is free aquarium ticket purchase, so after adopting your new family member you can enjoy the rest of what the aquarium has to offer.
