The Daily Advance, in partnership with local law firm Parks Zeigler, PLLC, is proud to announce the launch of “River City Heroes,” a new community recognition campaign honoring first responders across the Greater Elizabeth City area.

The River City Heroes six month campaign invites residents to nominate local heroes who demonstrate exceptional service, bravery, and commitment to their community. Eligible nominees include military members, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, state troopers, sheriffs and deputies, rescue squad members, ER nurses and doctors, and 911 dispatchers.

“We are there to help someone possibly having one of the worst days of their lives. It is our job, and we know the risks, both physical and mental, that are associated with it. When someone takes the time out of their day to show appreciation it does make you feel that you are making a difference in your community,” said Chris Carver, Fire Chief of Elizabeth City Fire Department.

This promotion provides a platform for residents to share stories of dedication and bravery, ensuring these incredible individuals receive the recognition they deserve.

“At Parks Zeigler, we believe in lifting up the people who lift up our communities,” said Andrew T. Shilling, Managing Partner of Parks Zeigler, PLLC’s Elizabeth City office, servicing NE North Carolina. “Our first responders show up on our hardest days with courage, professionalism, and heart. Partnering with The Daily Advance to honor these heroes is not only a privilege, it’s a responsibility we’re proud to embrace.”

We encourage everyone to take a moment to nominate a first responder who has made a difference in their lives or community.
