Summer is over and school is back in session, but the fun doesn’t stop! There is a lot going on in Hampton Roads this weekend and it was hard to select just five events! We’re thankful to live in a community with so much going on no matter what time of the year it is. Below you can see what we’re looking forward to this weekend.
Jurassic Quest: September 6th – 8th at the Hampton Roads Convention Center
Jurassic Quest has been hailed as the “largest and most realistic” dinosaur exhibition in North America since 2012. Attendees can experience more than 80 true to life-size animatronic dinosaurs, as well as dinosaur themed rides, education, and a whole lot more. For more information, click here.
Neptune Surfing Classic: September 7th – 8th on 2nd Street at the Oceanfront; 7:30 AM
Come hang out at the Oceanfront and watch surfers take on the waves in the Neptune Surfing Classic, an event organized in conjunction with the Eastern Surfing Association. This event is free and open to the viewing public. Come on down and make it a beach day! For more information, click here.
Opera in the Park: September 7th at Town Point Park; 6:00 PM
Bring the family out for some free opera alongside the beautiful downtown Norfolk waterfront. The performance will include arias and Broadway melodies that are perfect for a relaxing night out. There will be food and drinks for sale on-site, so bring your blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy high art in comfort! For more information, click here.
Dominion Derby Girls vs NOVA Roller Derby: September 7th at Haygood Skating Center; 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Roller derby! A night of intense competition and high energy makes for a great Saturday night. Adult beverages are available, kids under 10 years old get in free, and there are military & first responder discounts available. For more information, click here.
Williamsburg Farmer’s Market: September 8th at Merchant’s Square; 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Spend your Sunday morning out in beautiful Williamsburg, Virginia and roam through the Farmer’s Market. It includes over 35 vendors selling fresh meats, seafood, cheeses, vegetables and more – all with a focus on sustainability and locally grown fare. There will also be live music, chefs, and other exhibitors present as well. After it ends, there is no shortage of wonderful things to explore in the historic area. For more information, click here.
