Brandon grew up in Norfolk and attended Taylor Elementary, Blair Jr. High and Maury High School. After graduating Maury in 1986, Brandon attended George Mason University to study politics, international affairs with a concentration in the Middle East and economics. During, and immediately after college, Brandon worked in the restaurant business and after graduation (and between jobs) traveled extensively. From 1991 through 1994 Brandon traveled across the country twice, to Canada, Mexico and spent several months in Eastern and Western Europe backpacking, including going to the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and World’s Fair in Seville. While in law school he was the president of the trial team for 2 years and worked with the JAG Corp stationed at the 5th Street Naval Base.
While San Diego is a wonderful place to live, Brandon’s entire family was living in Virginia and Pennsylvania so a move back East was in the cards. After passing the bar and getting married in 1996, Brandon obtained a job with a well-known small litigation based law firm where he worked for 7 years. Thereafter joined a mid-size firm for the next 11 years.
Wanting to be more entrepreneurial and hands-on in helping run and grow a business, Brandon decided the merge his practice with Kellam’s. Not only were Brandon and Kellam long-time friends and had worked together in two different firms, Brandon appreciates Kellam’s knowledge and use of cutting edge technology and how that allows a law firm to (1) be more efficient, (2) better serve clients by assisting in real time communication and (3) allow instant access to a client’s file. At work Brandon finds the most enjoyment with helping individuals and small businesses find creative and effective solutions to their problems.
Brandon has been honored and recognized by numerous organizations: Legal Elite by Virginia Business Magazine; Top Lawyer by Coastal Virginia Magazine; rated Top 100 Attorneys in Virginia, and 10 years as a Super Lawyer by Superlawyers.com; AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell; a faculty member and author for Virginia CLE; and achieving a 10.0 rating by AVVO.
Brandon is involved with many outside groups, including being immediate past President of the Virginia Beach Bar Association. Brandon previously taught business law at Tidewater Community College and has judged many local and regional trial and mediation competitions. For the past 21 years Brandon has volunteered in assisting victims of domestic abuses to obtain protective orders with Virginia Beach’s CLASS program. Brandon has authored chapters for, and has spoken at, continuing legal educational seminars materials consistently for the past ten years.
When not working, Brandon spends most of his time having fun with his family. He enjoys shooting and fishing with his son, following Pittsburgh Steelers Football, Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey, and New York Mets Baseball. He enjoys racquetball, scuba diving, white water rafting, rugby, boating, mountain biking, and traveling. Brandon and his family have recently traveled to England, Spain, Central America and several Caribbean islands. Brandon also enjoys reading about economics, politics, history and listening to new music.
